JOURNAL ENTRY #7: Harmony & Sanctuary - Gallery Wall Alternatives

Here we are at the end of January 2021 - what a strange, long, and short month it’s been. Despite there being many distractions, I hope you were able to at least set an intention. Staying focused is such a process but at least if there’s intention, there’s motivation.

In my last entry, I shared tips for creating a gallery wall centered around your intention for the new year. With the help of some selected ‘vintage art’, new art, and some found images, I’m inviting HARMONY into my space. Whatever your intention is, after living through such chaos, a harmonious life seems like something we all wish to create. Sanctuary can be found in the unlikeliest of spaces. If you don’t have large wall space to work with, here are 5 Alternatives for displaying your art collection:

  • BEDROOM DOOR: Remember being a teenager and plastering all types of cutouts and posters of your favorite heartthrobs or magazine models?! We were making vision boards before we even knew it! It’s time for a comeback - get your prettiest washi tape out and start sticking!

  • VANITY MIRROR: If your door was a giant collage, chances are so was your vanity mirror! We used to tape pictures and stickers to the point of barely leaving room to see our own reflection. The vanity mirror has always been the most sacred space. Why not surround yourself with the beauty that’s reflected in you?

  • HEADBOARD: The last place we see at night and the first place we see in the morning makes a great place to curate art that sparks the sweetest of dreams!

  • BOOKSHELF: Styling your art collection with books and objects you love can really enhance a work of art and amplify its’ story.

  • BEDSIDE TABLE: Usually reserved for alarm clocks and cellphones, I prefer the bedside table to inspire rest and relaxation. It’s the perfect spot for art styled with candles, a pillow mist, crystals, or whatever promotes a chill vibe.

So you see, intentions can be created anytime, anywhere. If you had a difficult time this month, there’s always a new month to set the tone. The end of January also ushers in my favorite month, February, the most romantic time of the year, my birthday month, and the countdown to Spring! We’re a little over 50 days away - the days are getting longer, the ground is stirring, and I’ve got blooms on the brain. Bring on the romance!

‘Til next time...
